Family Ownership Fuels the Success at Nordic Naturals

Established in 1995, Nordic Naturals remains focused on every step of the manufacturing process to achieve the highest-grade omega-3s and essential nutrient products. Nordic Naturals has been privately-owned since their founding and are committed to remaining family-owned and operated, in order to successfully manage every aspect of the quality of their products. They have over 200 products to choose from to meet each customer’s individual nutritional needs and supplement preferences. From their ability to source the finest raw materials and non-GMO ingredients, to their state of-the-art, green manufacturing plant in Arctic Norway, Nordic Naturals’ product quality begins and ends with family ownership.

Remaining privately-owned allows Nordic Naturals to focus on the details of supplement manufacturing. Because of this, their products have won over 60 awards for taste, product quality, and brand excellence. Many of Nordic Naturals most popular products are national best-sellers in their respective categories. These include perennial favorites like Ultimate Omega, Children’s DHA, Baby’s DHA, Nordic Berries, Algae Omega, and many more! As they look beyond omega-3s, they’ve begun to offer a wider selection of nutrients that are essential to health, while maintaining the primacy of premium ingredients—always effective, scrupulously sustainable, and non-GMO.

The effectiveness of omega-3s and other nutrients depends, in large part, on what form they’re in when they enter the body. Omega-3 products are often sold as ethyl esters, but research routinely shows that nutrients are absorbed less in ethyl ester form and absorbed more in triglyceride form—the same form of omega-3 fats that are naturally found in fish. Decreased absorption means fewer benefits. For this reason, Nordic Naturals manufactures all of their omega-3 products in the natural, triglyceride form. Other ingredient selection choices that focus on bioavailability and quality include: vitamin D3, curcumin, lutein, zeaxanthin, red yeast rice, and more.

Sustainability is also another key feature of Nordic Naturals ingredient selection process. You can’t feel good about a supplement brand, if you know that your savings comes at the expense of others or the health of our planet. That’s why Nordic Naturals sources all of their fish from Friend of the Sea (FOS) certified fisheries and only uses species of fish that are both rich in omega-3s and have a record of long-term population health. Historically, these species have included: Arctic cod from the Norwegian Sea, as well as sardines and anchovies from the South Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Additionally, 100% of Nordic Naturals fish is sourced in compliance with the Norwegian fisheries management system, which has been a model of sustainability for over 30 years.

Nordic Naturals product ingredients have been non-GMO since before most people cared about GMOs—considering they began making supplements in 1995. Back then, it was easy to source non-GMO nutrients by sticking with the highest-quality ingredients and sourcing from smaller suppliers. Today, they ensure their products are fully non-GMO, by testing all ingredients for the absence of GMOs through the Eurofins Scientific Genescan program.

Long ago, Nordic Naturals made a commitment to support great health through better nutrition. Today, over twenty years later, they’re proud to continue this legacy as a family-owned supplement company.
